siling & samet

 what's up with my students this week:

• one kid brought a bubbles to class. NUFF SAID. it was awesome. I couldn't concentrate on teaching.
• another kid brought a stamp to class. I took it and stamped my hand, so they took this as free reign to stamp various other parts of my body, including face. I let them and realized a few minutes later what the stamp said: Keep Siling. Engrish!!
• my 9th grade "smart class" asked to see a baby picture of me last week, so we all brought in baby pictures and stuck them on the board and were meant to guess who is who. (yeah, guessing teacher maddy among all the asian babies was super difficult). officially, thai babies are adorable. the next part of the class period included a talk about divorce, bisexuality, and lady boys. the girls also requested I bring in the shampoo I used and proceeded to smell it for a good 5 minutes. (?)

over the weekend we went to an island called koh samet. it ruled.
