Piano plays the violin

back to school, back to school, to prove to dad I'm not a fool!

It's totally surreal still that we are teaching again, wearing watches, making lesson plans, sweating down our backs and getting whiteboard marker on our faces. But I forgot how awesome the students are!
In class yesterday, I asked one of my students (her name is Piano) what she did over summer break. She responded, "I played the violin." I cracked up- Piano played the violin. I asked the girl sitting next to her what SHE did over the summer and she said she played the piano. 55555. Ahh, thai students! I've missed you.

Backtrack: the past month I spent traveling, and through unexpected circumstances, ended up going to Vietnam for a week instead of Laos. (those circumstances, unfortunately, involved Nicki, dengue fever, dysentary, and a sweet hospital in Cambodia).

Thanks to my semi-education in art history, I was very appreciative of the Churning of the Sea of Milk at Angkor Wat in Cambodia- but honestly, it was hard to appreciate anything more than the amazing sunrise I got to see at Angkor.

Pre-Cambodia, I also got to ride an elephant again on an island called Ko Chang. it was one of the places people have hyped up to me and Nicki since the start of our time in Thailand, so our expectations were pretty effing high by the time we actually made it there. Don't worry, it's just as good as everyone made it sound.

And Vietnam! It was absolutely incredible. I got to stay on a chinese junk in Halong Bay, ditch ridiculous traffic in Hanoi (and see Ho Chi Minh, what a baller) and explore Hoi An, the cutest of the cute as far as southeast asian towns go.

(I took the best nap of my life in this crazy beach cabana/bed)

So wait, how soon can I travel again?
